After being arrested early on Sunday morning in another case involving controversial tweets, PTI Senator Azam Khan Swati was sent to physical remand.

This morning, Swati was taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for the second time as a result of a new case being filed against him for posting controversial tweets about senior military officers.

After listening to the arguments made by the FIA and Swati’s lawyers, Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja read the verdict that he had reserved. The FIA had asked for eight days of physical detention for Swati.

The PTI leader was arrested earlier today from his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.

According to sources, Azam Swati was detained by the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing for posting controversial tweets criticising a state institution and using foul language against high officials of the Pakistan Army.

According to reports, an FIR was filed against him as a result of his tweets.

Anis ur Rehman, a technical assistant with the FIA, filed the complaint that led to the filing of the case against the senator. Libel and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act have been filed in the case.

Sections 500, 501, 505, and 109 have all been used to arrest the senator. Additionally, he was detained last month under the same rules.
