The engagement of TTP members in terrorist actions within Pakistan, according to Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, should worry the Afghan Taliban since it poses a threat to regional stability.
After holding a conference to assess the nation’s general security posture in the wake of a suicide bombing in Quetta, the federal minister was speaking to the media in the federal capital.
The Interior Minister claimed that the increase in terror pursuits is concerning, yet it is controllable. Before the federal government intervenes, he urged the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to handle the issue.
“It is not worrying […] Don’t think that this is going out of control or that some group will become out of reach,” he remarked in response to a question from the audience at an Islamabad press conference.
The Minister added “TTP is enjoying all sorts of facilities in Afghanistan,” After the day the prohibited organization took responsibility for the Quetta attack in which a policeman, a woman add two children were killed and left several others injured.
It was “alarming and condemnable,” he added, noting that the TTP’s actions represented a threat to stability in the region and should also worry Afghanistan’s neighbors. The TTP claimed credit for the incident.
The PML-N leader then addressed the domestic problem, claiming that “a group led by a crazy person is bent upon creating anarchy in the country.” The Minister added they are trying tirelessly to upset the country.
Sanaullah lamented Mahmood Khan, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for missing the latest security meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Specifically mentioning KP and Balochistan, he recognized the significance for provincial governments, security organisations, and authorities to handle the issue of increasing terrorism efficiently.
“They need to take this matter seriously, and whenever they will need the help of the federal government and its agencies, we will assist them without any delay.
“Political matters aside, we have to play our role according to the system. I believe it is the KP CM’s responsibility to seek help from the federation and address these matters,” Sanaullah pointed out.
The Minister emphasised, in answer to a question from a journalist, that the Afghan government had pledged to the world that they would not permit the use of their territory for terrorists.
“If they follow through with this, it is not only in the benefit of Pakistan but it is also for their own benefit […] Because if the TTP is present there and is carrying out terrorist activities here, their soil is being used [for terrorist activities] contrary to their claims.”
