To end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, President Biden, while addressing the reporters, shows he is willing to talk to President Putin, with conditions. He stated “If in fact there is an interest in him deciding that he is looking for a to end the war.“
President Biden stated on Thursday that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir V. Putin, but only after consulting with NATO partners and only if the Russian President Putin made it clear that he was “looking for a way to end the war,” standing next to the French leader who has advocated for the necessity of dialogue with Moscow.
French officials were pleased by Mr. Biden’s public declaration of his conditional willingness to speak with Mr. Putin and were surprised by the unexpected support it gave President Emmanuel Macron’s approach. In spite of the fact that Mr. Putin had not yet demonstrated any interest in stopping his invasion, Mr. Biden stated that,“ I’ll be happy to sit down with Putin to see what he has in mind.”
Both the President’s emphasised that their continuous support would remain with Ukraine against Russia.
Mr. Macron made it clear that France would enhance its military assistance for Ukraine and “would never urge Ukrainians to reachmake a compromise that will not be acceptable for them” at a White House press conference that occasionally resembled a love fest.
The two presidents essentially met halfway, with Mr. Biden demonstrating greater openness to a peaceful resolution and Mr. Macron demonstrating greater unwavering support for the Ukrainian cause. The collaboration of ideas seemed to go above and beyond hopes on both sides, although only partially planned.
The French president made it plain that his country would never compel Ukraine to accept a solution it found objectionable.
They were talking as a top Ukrainian official reported that since the commencement of Russia’s incursion on February 24th, about 10,000 and 13,000 of its troops had died.
The casualty tolls are rarely disclosed through either side Russia or Ukraine, and the Ukrainian military has not backed up Mykhailo Podolyak’s claims.
The US and French presidents promised “continued support for Ukraine’s defence of its sovereignty and territorial integrity” in a joint declaration following their discussions at the White House. They also committed to speeding up the delivery of air defence systems and announcing proposals for an international conference on Ukraine to be held in Paris on December 13th.
