Imran Khan, the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former prime minister, stated on Friday that the country’s increasing economic crisis following regime change has made life unpleasant for income earners and labourers.
In a message to the nation delivered on Friday via video connection, he said that the ongoing decline in the value of the dollar will cause an increase in the price of gasoline and diesel, which will trigger a fresh wave of inflation.
The former prime minister stated, “That is why I consistently requested that elections be held rather than instal such people into office, adding that their [the government’s] goal was not to provide relief for the people.”
Imran Khan claimed that the four individuals planned the plot to kill him behind his back.
“I learned about it, and I subsequently made a video outlining the attack. I stated at a public protest that if anything were to happen to me, I would share the video. After that, they took a step back.”
About the Wazirabad attack on November 3, 2022, in which he was shot in the legs and is still healing, Khan claimed that another plan had been formed to have him assassinated by a religious extremist. He did not name anyone again.
“There is now a Plan C. This is the work of Asif Zardari. Via fraud, he has collected a large sum of money, which he has used to fund terrorists and hire a militant group.”
Khan alleged that this attempt was supported by “power agencies.” He added, “My people should know who was [behind] these attacks. That is why I am [revealing] these identities.
The PTI chairman took aim at the caretaker Punjab government, claiming that rather than declaring an election date, the provincial interim administration has halted work on current projects that were started by his administration and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) established to look into the Wazirabad incident.
Reiterating his narrative, Khan claimed that the JIT findings indicated that there were three attackers. He added that police officials had declined to speak to the JIT and that the investigation’s records had been locked by anti-corruption officer Nadeem Sarwar. He said, “Why are they terrified when they haven’t done anything?”
