Pentagon sees fit to aid Ukraine directly for counteroffensive purposes and adheres to the belief that Russia could potentially become a problem for the neighboring European countries as well. An aid of collective $2.7 billion was declared_ in addition to a sum of $675 million for Ukraine to purchase heavy armory, possibly modern ammunition and armored vehicles_ by the Defense Secretary of United States, Lloyd Austin.
In the last few days, Ukrainian soldiers claimed to have made a considerable advance against the Russian military. This claim has a direct link to the United States’ decision to keep funding Ukraine and its allies. President Biden and his administration have already pledged $2 billion to Ukraine. The war and its opposition are defined by the U.S as a countermeasure to ensure that Russian does not misbehave against any more of its 18 neighboring countries and the safeguard Europe from further aggression at the hands of the invading party.
This could be seen clearly as the Russian ally, Belarus has been involved in insinuating military drills_ though inside the country_ dangerously close to its border with Poland. The Pentagon is confident that Ukrainian troops are “clearly” making progress against the Russian military.
In addition to this, Ukraine received a surprise visit from the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken on Thursday. He earmarked the aid and visited victims of the war during his visit. The aid also includes a budget for advanced high-tech missiles, Humvee vehicles, and anti-tank systems This visit proved to be a message to Russia that the United States is fully committed to ending end Russia’s fretful actions.
The Ukrainian president was thankful to the U.S and mentioned his gratitude to Blinken saying that “We are grateful for the signal, for this enormous support that you’re providing on a day-to-day basis.”
The aim of Biden’s policy for detaching America from any international wars seems to have taken a slight turn as the POTUS is directly funding Ukraine in the context of an ongoing war.
