After taking a blow to the side of his head during a training session in Melbourne, Pakistani batter Shan Masood was taken to the hospital.
Masood’s neurological observations were normal, and the PCB management later claimed that the scans from the hospital only revealed a superficial bruising where the ball had struck him. They also stated that he was still asymptomatic for a concussion at the time.
As Masood was not batting at the time, he was not wearing a helmet when he was struck by a loose ball off the bat from Mohammad Nawaz. Masood collapsed on the ground while expressing pain. Soon after, the team doctor arrived to treat him.
The incident happened when Pakistan was practicing at the MCG before their Sunday group match against India.
“He took an unpleasant hit to a sensitive area. He passed the tests our physio conducted, but I’m not sure of his present situation.” After the incident, Shadab Khan, Pakistan’s vice-captain, made a statement. “He’s now been to the hospital for a scan. We’re praying for a quick recovery for him.”
In the build-up to the World Cup, Masood has established himself as a regular starter for the Pakistan T20I team, finding a place at number three.
He played in all seven of Pakistan’s T20 International matches against England after making his format debut, as well as all of Pakistan’s matches in the tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
He had two half-centuries against England but failed in the tri-series, and Fakhar Zaman was expected to take his spot in the starting XI.
