At the Secretariat, Industrial Area, Shahzad Town, Sihala, Sangjani, Khanna, and Bhara Kahu police stations, cases have been filed against the party leadership accusing them of obstructing traffic, assaulting police officers, and damaging both public and private property.
Based based on a complaint from PML-N leader Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Secretariat police have charged former prime minister Imran Khan and several PTI leaders under sections 109, 148, 149, 324, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). He added that his car was also destroyed in the attack and alleged that PTI leaders ordered the attack on him.
In addition to other allegations, the Industrial Estate Police have named 1,200 other PTI activists and nominated seven of them for prosecution under the 7th Amendment to the Indian Constitution (7ATA) for allegedly throwing stones at FC and police officers in Faizabad.
These individuals are also charged with attempting to run over police officers with their cars and lighting trees on fire.
Similar to this, Sangjani police have listed 100 additional people and nominated six of them for charges under 7ATA and other PPC sections for attacking police officers and jamming the Srinagar Highway at the orders of Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan, and others.
Meanwhile, 150 other people were named in the Shahzad Town police station case for blocking Taramri chowk while loaded with mallets and metal bars and setting tires on fire.
In the case at Sihala police station, 11 persons and 100 others have been named for obstructing the GT Road, while Khanna police have named 15 people and 250 other activists in their FIR for an aggressive demonstration at Iqbal Town where they obstruct the Federal Expressway and assault the police party.
In the case at the Bhara Kahu police station, 29 persons were named along with 235 others for obstructing Athal Chowk with an agitated crowd and posing a threat to officers.
Saleh Mohammad Khan Swati, a PTI lawmaker from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two of his bodyguards were charged with terrorism late on Friday night at the Secretariat Police Station. Islamabad police later released a picture of the MNA in front of a police panaflex with an identification board around his neck bearing the specifics of the case against him.
Senior police officers claimed that a senior police officer cell was the first to disseminate the photo, from which it then spread.
The people who are typically photographed by police as part of the Criminal Record Office (CRO) profiling procedure are individuals who are habitual criminals and those involved in terrible crimes, such as robbery and terrorism, according to sources. Several top officials had voiced their displeasure about the photo’s public dissemination.
After being later shown in court, the Legislator and his two guards were placed in judicial custody and taken to jail.
