On Tuesday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police issued orders to all officers prohibiting them from taking part in the long march held by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
The federal government has expressly forbidden all staff of the government from taking part in the protest, according to a letter sent to all officers.
According to the instructions, K-P police officers are prohibited from entering Punjab during the “Haqeeqi Azadi March” unless they are on official duties, and they are also forbidden from taking part in the sit-in and protest.
The directives said that “No policeman shall trespass inside his jurisdiction and policemen shall be constrained to their task as provided by law.”
Today was the fifth day of the PTI’s march from Gujranwala as it made its way toward the federal capital.
Under Imran Khan’s direction, the long march participants would reach the garrison city through T-Chowk Rawat rather than the Islamabad Expressway, according to the schedule that has been finalised for PTI’s march to enter the most sensitive areas of Rawalpindi.
On the other hand, the Red Zone in Islamabad was extended by the federal government on Monday till Zero Point.
Faisal Avenue, Margalla Road, Bari Imam, and Fifth Avenue have all been declared as parts of the no-protest zone, according to reports.
The district administration said that Section 144 would continue to be in effect in the designated areas as Red Zone and that no protests or other public meetings would be permitted in the recently expanded area.
