Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s finance minister, stated on Sunday that Pakistan will soon be able to purchase Russian oil despite American efforts to stop it.
The finance minister said that during his recent visit to the US, he had a meeting with officials of the US State Department in which the issue of exporting oil from Russia was addressed. He was speaking to Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) workers in Dubai.
Dar said that the US government was informed that they could not stop Islamabad from purchasing oil from Moscow since India, the country’s neighbour, was also doing so.
Dar said that the ministry will try to import oil from Russia under comparable conditions to those it has with India.
The finance minister said, “In the next months, you will see that the government will take significant initiatives in favour of Pakistan in this regard.
Dar said that the nation does business with China, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Meetings with Saudi officials took place when the prime minister was in the country. You will see from these sessions that Pakistan will continue to progress, added Dar.
A refinery would be built in Gwadar, according to Dar, who added that Saudi Arabia will invest between $11 to $12 billion in the project.
He said that he was in Riyadh at the time, that the project had begun in October 2015, and that he had talks with important Saudi authorities.
