If you thought you were done with Hogwarts, think again.
For Potterheads, we have some exciting news!
There is a good chance that, after 11 years, we will see more Harry Potter movies. Warner Bros. executives, according to Entertainment Weekly, are considering the possibility of working on further fan favourites if they can get JK Rowling on board.
CEO David Zaslav expressed his company’s interest in continuing the series. He said, “We’re going to have a focus on franchises. It has been 13 years since the last Superman movie. We haven’t made a Harry Potter movie in 15 years.”
Over the past 25 years, a big part of Warner Bros. Motion Pictures’ earnings has come from the DC and Harry Potter movies.”
He added, “So a focus on the franchise. What movies have titles that are recognised and adored all around the world? Because you get a slot when you have a franchise movie, you may frequently make two to three times as much money as you can in the US. And a focus on the big, tentpole movies that people will leave early from dinner to see — and we have a lot of them.”
Zaslav went on to say “Batman, Superman, and Aquaman – if we can work with JK Rowling on Harry Potter in the coming, Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones, what are we doing with those? What are we doing with many of our big franchises? Our focus is on franchises.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 from 2011 marked the end of the eight-picture series based on J.K. Rowling’s well-liked books and was the last Harry Potter film to be released by Warner Bros.
The latest Fantastic Beasts spin-off film, The Secrets of Dumbledore, was released in July. The studio also produces the Fantastic Beasts major series.
