A fight between a policeman and a man broke out Monday night in Phase 5 of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The man, who was reportedly the son of a previous deputy commissioner, then shot the officer dead and ran away.
After getting out of a black car with tinted windows, the shooter Khurram Nisar and the dead policeman Abdul Rehman get into a fight, which is captured on video. Rehman gets out of the passenger seat as Nisar exits the driver’s seat.
The officer can be seen signalling for Nisar to get in the car and drive to the police station while holding a gun in the same video. After allegedly noticing suspicious behaviour, the martyred cop and his colleague reportedly chased Nisar and spoke to him.
Nisar, according to the police, arrived in Karachi on November 5 from Sweden. Along with his wife and two kids, he lives there. Nisar’s residence in Karachi is close to the crime scene in DHA Phase 5, said South DIG Irfan Baloch.
He departed in a different vehicle after leaving the incident’s car at his house. When the police searched Nisar’s house, they found weapons, documents, and the shooting’s getaway car.
The house watchman was also detained.
A copy of Nisar’s passport, according to the police, has also been seized, and they are looking for the car he escaped in. While photos of Nisar and information about his travel documents have been distributed across airports, his friends’ houses are also being searched.
At the Darakhshan Police Station, a sub-inspector filed a report alleging the murder of a policeman.
The alleged shooter is accused of murder, terrorism, and engaging in a gunfight with police, according to officials.
The officer that was martyred, Rahman, was shot in the right temple. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the initial medical examination revealed that the bullet’s slug got stuck in the victim’s head.
The detailed statement of the constable who was at the scene and was the deceased cop’s partner is also included in the FIR.
