In a press release, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated: “On March 8, security forces conducted an IBO in the general area of Datta Khel, North Waziristan District. Six terrorists were killed during an intensive exchange of fire,” and guns and ammo were found on them, the statement continued.
The killed extremist was “actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent citizens,” the ISPR continued.
The ISPR continued, “Locals of the area appreciated the security forces’ response and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area.”
The shooting incident occurs as terrorist activity increased nationwide, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the government’s truce with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an illegal organisation, was broken in November.
In North Waziristan’s Mirali Tehsil last week, security forces conducted an IBO that resulted in the death of a suicide bomber coordinator and the arrest of two suspected terrorists.
In Balochistan’s Kohlu region, two officers were martyred last month when an IED detonated during a sanitization operation.
In order to “deny terrorists any liberty of action,” the Kohlu area of Balochistan underwent a sanitization operation, according to a statement by the ISPR.
According to the report, attentive and combat-ready soldiers not only prevented any casualties from the despicable attempt, but they also quickly started a follow-up operation to track down the evading terrorists utilising ground and aviation resources.
“As a result, on February 23, a sanitization operation was started when a suspected terrorist hideout in Mazaaband Range was discovered. Eight terrorists were killed in the ensuing fierce exchange of gunfire, and a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition, including explosives, were also found ” it included.
As police repelled an ambush on a police van transporting three imprisoned militants to Bannu from North Waziristan on February 13, seven TTP members were killed.
