Mr. Gill’s plea for his acquittal in the case brought against him due to his controversial comments broadcast on a pay television channel was taken up by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq.
If the prosecution had delivered the challan to the trial court, Justice Farooq questioned them. The state’s attorney informed the court that the accused parties had received copies of the challan and that the court was expected to indict them on Tuesday.
Justice Farooq pointed out that the accused could ask the trial court for relief.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, had his interim release extended by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) till November 28 and a medical report was requested in response to a motion to have him excused from appearing in person.
His attorney filed a request with ATC Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan noting that Mr. Khan had not yet fully recovered from the wounds he received during an attempted murder on November 3 while he was leading the lengthy march to Islamabad.
The court granted the request for an exception and continued the hearing until November 28.
In the meantime, IHC Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri overruled administrative objections to Ali Amin Gandapur’s appeal to dismiss cases involving alleged acts of violence during a prior PTI protest.
The petition had drawn considerable criticism from the IHC registrar’s office.
Raja Zahoor, the petition’s legal representative, asked for a formal hearing.
