In Wazirabad, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan was shot in his leg when shots from a gun were fired near his container, additionally injuring six others as well. Imran Khan was immediately rushed to hospital after the attack and is confirmed to have received several injuries in his foot as well.
Numerous people speculate that it may be an attempt on the politician’s life. It was his sixth day on his political drive and in Wazirabad the incident occurred. The current Prime Minister has responded by condemning the act of violence directed at Imran Khan and has set an inquiry to probe the matter appropriately.
Thousands of attendees were moved to a state of vulnerability and chaos when the shots were fired. The gunman was arrested at the scene.
While there is no official report on how critical is Khan’s current situation, it is reported that he is out of danger. Faisal Javed Khan was also injured in the attack.
Imran Khan waved to his supporters with a bandage on his foot as he was taken to a vehicle and driven to a hospital following the event.
Pervez Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, has taken notice of the attack on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s container and has ordered the chief police officer of the province to submit a report following an investigation.
Elahi promised that “those responsible for the incident would suffer consequences.” He also gave instructions to local authorities to give the injured the best medical care possible.
Imran’s attack was also noticed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who condemned the incident. He gave Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah the order to immediately get a report from the IGP and Punjab’s chief secretary.
The PM added that the federal government will provide the provincial government with “all support necessary” for security and the incident investigation.
