Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif attributed the current state of affairs in the nation to General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed.
On Thursday evening, the former prime minister spoke to the media for the first time in a while. He accused the aforementioned ex-military men of manipulating Pakistan to serve their own interests by electing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in 2018.
He referred to his remarks at the PML-N public meeting in Gujranwala on October 16, 2020, in which he blamed the then-director-general of Inter-Services Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Faiz, and the then-chief of army staff, Gen. (retd.) Bajwa, of manipulating elections.
He had accused the military’s top brass of overthrowing his administration, installing PTI Imran Khan as prime minister in defiance of the constitution, silencing the media, coercing the courts, and persecuting opposition leaders.
When educating the Pakistani people about the brutality and unfairness to which he and Pakistan had been exposed, Nawaz Sharif informed the media in front of his son’s office that he didn’t sugarcoat the truth. He remarked, “It is my duty to make clear that we have been handled unfairly and harshly.”
The two retired generals who are thought to be responsible for carrying out the Tabdeeli initiative that was initially conceived by previous intelligence chiefs General Shuja Pasha, General Zaheer-ul-Islam, and his colleagues are well known to the people of Pakistan, according to Nawaz Sharif.
Following the arrival of the interior minister in London for discussions with the party leader, Nawaz Sharif claimed to have discussed the state of Pakistan with Rana Sanaullah, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Senator Dr. Afnan Khan, Javed Lateef, MNA, and others. “Inshallah, everything will be well. Pakistan will overcome its challenges, and we will make sure of that. We have a history of success, and we may achieve that goal.”
