The IHC ruled that the accused should be placed in custody on judicial remand after dismissing the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) appeal for the extension.
The change occurs a day after the court extended Swati’s remand by one day.
The prosecutor stated during the prior session that the investigating officer needed a longer period of time to locate the PTI leader’s cell phone, which was used to send the contentious tweet.
Separately, the PTI leader submitted an application for post-arrest release. Before the court on his behalf was his attorney, Sohail Khan Swati. The FIA was given notices concerning the petition by Special Judge Central Raja Asif Mehmood, who also instructed them to provide a by October 19.
Along with all the relevant documents, the court also issued a summons to the FIA investigator. As of right now, January 19 is the date for the case’s hearing.
Prior to his court appearance on Sunday, Swati made accusations against Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and the director general of the FIA in a media interview. He said they had filed a first information report (FIR) against him and sent him to organizations that had tortured him.
“I will bring them forward according to the constitution. I will take DG FIA to court and will file a case against the director of Cybercrime Wing and his staff as well” he added.
“They are asking me why did I defend Senator Saifullah? He is the right-hand man of Imran Khan and an honest man. What did he do?” Swati questioned, saying that even a regular party worker would have been treated with the same respect.
The FIA has filed an FIR against Swati for “using misleading info” on his official Twitter account that “is likely to provoke any Officer, Soldier, Sailor, or Airman in the Army, Navy, or Air Force to mutiny.” A copy of the FIR has been made available to the public.
Following the exoneration of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz in the prominent accuse in money laundering case on Wednesday, the PTI leader accused the army of aiding the Sharif family’s exoneration.
“I wish Imran khan allow[s] me, I would come straight to Gate 4 in Rawalpindi to challenge those who have ruined this country,” the Senator added.
“Mr Bajwa congratulations to you and few with you. Your plan is really working and all criminals are getting free at cost of this country,” he initiated.
