Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), stated on Tuesday that he was resigning from the Senate after the PPP expressed displeasure with his “political positions” and demanded that he resign from the upper house of parliament.
“Today I had a meeting with a senior party leader. He made it clear that the party leadership desired my departure from the senate because of their displeasure with my political stances.” The PPP leader tweeted on his official Twitter account, “I gladly agreed to resign.”
The PPP leader continued by saying that he will present his resignation to Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani tomorrow in person (Wednesday).
Khokhar stated, “I appreciate my freedom to express my opinions on subjects of public importance,” without elaborating on the reasons for his resignation.
“I’m thankful that the party leadership gave me the Sindh senate seat. Regardless of differences, it’s been a wonderful journey with them, and I wish them the best,” he continued.
